* *** NEXTDOOR_POSTS_FOR_2018-11-06 TXT - 8 Nov 2019 17:20:18 - JKNAUTH (posted on 10/3/18) Information for the 11/6/18 Election ----------- --- --- ------- -------- The 11/6/18 general election is now a little over a month away. If you have not registered, you have only a few days left to do so to be eligible to vote in this election. Below is information about the Sanford Creek Elementary School (SCES) 19-19 polling place and some election-day "car pool" time changes for SCES. There is also general election information relevant to both 19-19 and 19-18. If you are reading this, you likely reside in either precinct 19-19 or 19-18 -- new precincts created in 2017 to replace old precinct 19-10. See http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/19-19.htm for detailed information including precinct maps, how to register to vote or check your registration data, how to request an absentee ballot, how to see a sample ballot, and how to access and park at Sanford Creek Elementary School. That web page is mainly for 19-19 voters, but also has some information that may be helpful to people in 19-18. Be aware that there is a two-hour delay for the Wake County Public School System this election day. That affects the "car pool" times for dropping off and picking up kids at Sanford Creek Elementary School and can affect your ability to park there to vote around those times. I have posted the latest information provided to me by that school in http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/19-19.htm and will update it if they notify me of any changes. The ballot for this election is quite long -- 17 inches, printed on both sides; there are many things to vote on. Voting will likely take you more time than in the last couple of elections. You can make things go faster on election day by taking a look at a sample ballot well before then and planning how you will mark your ballot at the polling place. As described in the above 19-19.htm web page, you can see your specific ballot style by going to the Wake County Board of Elections website, http://www.wakegov.com/elections, and clicking on "Am I Registered", then entering the requested identification data to bring up your current registration information. Scroll down to the Sample Ballots section and click on the G057 link. G057 is the only ballot style for 19-19 and 19-18 in this election. Jeff Knauth Chief Judge for precinct 19-19 ======================================================================== (posted on 11/1/18) Latest Information for the 11/6/18 Election ------ ----------- --- --- ------- -------- The general election is now well underway. Election day at local polling sites is next Tuesday, 11/6/18; on that day your polling place opens at 6:30 AM and closes at 7:30 PM. You can also vote at an early voting site from now thru Saturday, at places and times listed in http://www.wakegov.com/elections/info/early/Pages/default.aspx, e.g., the Northern Regional Center in Wake Forest. Turnout at early voting sites has been very heavy so far. Keep in mind that on the final Saturday before election day the early voting sites may be pretty crowded and the sites are open for only five hours that day vs. the twelve hours for which most are open on weekdays. It is now (11/1/18) too late to request an absentee ballot, but not too late to mail one you have already received or to deliver it personally to the Board of Elections office. You *CANNOT* bring it to your local polling place on election day. Time constraints are described in http://www.wakegov.com/elections/info/Pages/absentee.aspx. If you don't cast that absentee ballot, you can still vote at your normal polling place just as if your absentee ballot never existed; just safely discard the unused absentee ballot, but not at the polling place. It is now too late to register by mail in time for the current election, although you can register and vote on the same day at an early voting site (see link above for restrictions). You *CANNOT* register at your polling place on election day. If you are reading this, you likely reside in either precinct 19-19 or 19-18 -- new precincts created in 2017 to replace old precinct 19-10. See http://jgkhome.name/WakeBOE/19-19.htm for detailed information including precinct maps, how to check your registration data, how to view a sample ballot, and how to access and park at Sanford Creek Elementary School. That web page is mainly for 19-19 voters, but also has some information that may be helpful to people in 19-18. It was there for a while after the initial posting and then disappeared a few minutes later. It looks like there is a bug in Nextdoor. All the links in the text above do work properly.)
